Among the leading groups of curiosity in Group G which is made up of England, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Wales and Montenegro. England is the seeded team and are the favorites to win the group. Although with that said, they did miss out on qualification for the last tournament.
The key opposition should come from Switzerland and Bulgaria. Switzerland have progressed to 3 of the last four Euro Championships but not once have they made it beyond the first round. They were co-hosts of the previous finals with Austria. They are a tough team although they are not anything amazing.
Bulgaria have only appeared at the finals twice, the last occasion was in 2004. They are yet to make it past the first round. They were previously regularly at the FIFA World Cup participating in every one from 1962 to 1974 then again in 1986 and 1994 where Bulgaria finished 4th. The Bulgarians haven't qualified since 1998.
Its high quality player is Stiliyan Petrov who plays for Aston Villa in England.
Wales only previous experience in the competition was back in 1976 which was back when the tournament utilised a totally different structure. The eight group winners of which Wales was one were drawn into two-legged playoffs and the play-off winners progressed to the finals which were in Yugoslavia. It was Yugoslavia who Wales lost to in the play-offs. That was the last occasion the Welsh was in a leading international tournament and it's tough to see that alter now.
Montenegro is only a couple of years old. It was once a part of Yugoslavia and then Serbia and Montenegro. They'll struggle to do well in the Euro 2012 Group G.
